The Disability Association of Tavana (DAT) has established several branches since 2006 which are currently pursuing their social and cultural tasks and responsibilities in an active manner. Despite the fact that these DAT branches are newly established institutions, they have successfully been able to change the attitude of the citizens and local authorities toward the disabled individuals. DAT branches have been engaged in holding art exhibitions, student festivals, cultural ceremonies, traditional rituals, sports competition, etc.

 DAT Alvand Branch

The DAT branch in the city of Alvand was established in 2004 through the initiatives of some of the studious disabled individuals of this city. As one of the branches of DAT in Qazvin Province, the DAT Alvand Branch is engaged in the activities that are concentrated on the enhancement of the livelihood of the disabled people in the city of Alvand. Distanced from any political inclinations, the DAT Alvand Branch is carrying out its activities without receiving any direct financial support from the people or the state, because it considers any such donations as contrary to the personal dignity and pride of disabled individuals. As an institute that is engaged in the facilitation of the affairs of disabled people in the city of Alvand, the DAT Alvand Branch endeavors to shift the society’s attitude toward the concept of physical disability and materialize the social rights of this group of people. The DAT Alvand Branch’s activities (at both managerial and executive levels) are totally dependent on the public participation and its affairs are handled by efficient disabled individuals and the honorary members of the association. This branch is concentrated on the mental rehabilitation of disabled people, empowerment of the economic bases of their families, cultural promotion among the disabled community, identification and categorization of social and international rights of the disabled people, and making them aware of their rights. The management approach in DAT Alvand Branch is participatory and consultative. Currently, some 800 disabled individuals in the city of Alvand (including physically disabled individuals, the deaf, and the blind people) are members of DAT.

    DAT Takistan Branch

The Takistan Branch is the second branch of the Disability Association of Tavana (DAT) established outside the city of Qazvin. It is the DAT’s second instrumental branch for the expansion of an attitude which is based on the existence of great potentials among the members of the disabled community. The DAT Takistan Branch is providing the same services for the disabled individuals in the city of Takistan which are provided by the DAT Central Headquarter. This branch of the DAT has been quite successful in the implementation of cultural plans and programs. It is connected to 106 public and private organizations and interacts with them. The Takistan Branch has spread its activities in 4 districts of Takistan, i.e. Central District; Khorramdasht; Esfarvin; and Zia Abad. Some 150 honorary members of the DAT are cooperating with this branch.

 DAT Tehran Branch

In order to further promote its philosophical thoughts about the disabled community and strengthen the proper attitude regarding this group of individuals, the DAT has established a branch in Tehran. This branch was established in the capital in order to identify elite disabled individuals and contribute to the enhancement of their capabilities and find job opportunities for them. Some of the activities of the DAT branch in Tehran are as follows: interacting with high ranking national authorities; holding joint meetings with ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions of some 20 countries in Tehran; communicating with the authorities of the State Welfare Organization; etc.

 DAT Kelardasht Branch

In July 2016, DAT inaugurated its representative branch in Kelardasht, Mazandaran Province, in order to present its services to the disabled community in that region. It was concentrated on changing the attitude of the society toward the disabled people in Kelardasht. The DAT Kelardasht Branch endeavors to enhance the capabilities of disabled people and facilitate their further involvement in social affairs. Establishment of the DAT branch was another initiative by DAT authorities for promoting the belief in capacities of the disabled people. The Kelardasht branch is the third branch of DAT and a powerful instrument for expanding the DAT ideals outside the Qazvin Province. The DAT branch in Kelardasht was established upon the requests of people and authorities of this city from the DAT founder in order to present the DAT services to the disabled community there. One of the peculiar features of the DAT Kelardasht Branch is the fact that it is far from the DAT headquarter in Qazvin and its disabled folks are less literate than those in other regions. Identification of the disabled individuals of the region, development of their capabilities, promotion of the culture of refusing the direct donations, and creation of motivation among the disabled people are some of the major objectives that are pursued by this branch of the DAT. The Kelardasht Branch is also dealing with carrying out some executive programs, such as visiting the physically disabled individuals at their homes and creating motivation among them; holding training courses on handicraft industries for the disabled people, who are suffering from severe physical problems, at their homes or in DAT branch in Kelardasht; participation in seasonal exhibitions in Kelardasht and presenting the goods produced by the disabled people; and coordination with physicians and doctors to provide medical services for the disabled people. Currently, some 60 disabled individuals in the city of Alvand (including physically disabled individuals, the deaf, and the blind people) are members of the DAT branch in Kelardasht.
