Henry McVey
Henry H. McVey (New York) joined Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. (KKR) in 2011 and is Head of the Global Macro and Asset Allocation (GMAA) team. Mr. McVey also serves as chief investment officer for the firm’s balance sheet and oversees firmwide market risk and derivatives, and liability management. As part of his role, he also sits on KKR’s balance sheet Committee. Prior to joining KKR, Mr. McVey was a managing director, lead portfolio manager, and head of global macro and asset allocation at Morgan Stanley Investment Management. Earlier in his career, he was a portfolio manager at Fortress Investment Group and chief U.S. investment strategist for Morgan Stanley. While at Morgan Stanley, he was also a member of the asset allocation committee and was the top-ranked asset management and brokerage analyst by Institutional Investor for four consecutive years before becoming the firm’s strategist in January 2004. Mr. McVey earned his BA from the University of Virginia and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He is a long-time supporter of the TEAK Fellowship and currently sits on the organization’s emeritus board after having served as cohead of the Board of Trustees for five years. He also heads GMAA Gives Back within KKR, an organization set up to provide pro bono macro and asset allocation assistance to small to medium-sized nonprofits. Mr. McVey is a three-term board member of the University of Virginia Investment Management Company, a member of the national advisory board for the Jefferson Scholarship at the University of Virginia, and a board member at St. Andrew’s School in Delaware. In addition, he is a board member of the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, D.C., and a member of the Pritzker Foundation Investment Committee. Since 2019, Mr. McVey has also served on the Financial Sector Advisory Council for the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas.
