Kirti Gupta is an economist specializing in global issues at the intersection of technology, antitrust, and intellectual property. She is a vice president and chief economist of technology at Cornerstone Research, where her expertise spans engineering, product development, litigation, and policy in the technology sector. She has more than 20 years of experience working at the forefront of technologies, including mobile and wireless telecommunications, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and semiconductors. At Cornerstone Research, Dr. Gupta coheads the intellectual property (IP) practice, providing economic and statistical consulting, analysis, and expert testimony in complex business litigation. Before joining the firm, she was a vice president and chief economist at Qualcomm Inc., where she worked on strategic IP initiatives, global antitrust investigations, litigation, mergers and acquisitions, and trade issues. Earlier in her career, Dr. Gupta spent over a decade as a systems-engineering expert. Dr. Gupta is a cofounder and executive director of the Center for Strategic and International Studies’ IPLeadershIP platform, which convenes dialogues on IP and antitrust policy. She is also executive director at the Institute for Business Innovation at the Haas School of Business, University of California, Berkeley. She speaks and publishes frequently on technology, IP, and competition and has taught at leading U.S. and international universities. She holds over 50 patents in wireless communications and networking and earned an MS in electrical engineering from Purdue University and a PhD in economics from the University of California, San Diego.
