Dr. Jonathan Burchell is a visiting fellow in the Europe, Russia, and Eurasia Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington, DC. His research focuses on NATO, European security, and defense. A national security professional with over a decade of experience across the UK Government, he has held a range of analytical and strategic roles in the Ministry of Defence and the Home Office, covering defense strategy, international security and counterterrorism. Jonathan holds a PhD in Government Policy Making from Loughborough University, postgraduate training in War Studies from King’s College London, and has attended the NATO Defense College.
