Ian Biggs, Australian
ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran, visited Disability Association of
Tavana (DAT), as well as, DAT’s workshops and DAT’s Factory Complex on Tuesday,
July 6th, 2017, in order to enhance social cooperation in the areas related to
the people who suffer from physical disability, Peyk-e Tavana reported.
In his visit to DAT and DAT’s Firouz Hygienic
Group, the Australian Ambassador pointed out: “DAT is a successful association
and provides [invaluable] services for the people suffering from physical
disability.”
Highlighting the importance of DAT’s perception
which stipulates that “disability is not inability; rather, it is a kind of
constraint and, actually, all human beings suffer from constraints in one way
or another” Ambassador Biggs said: “This kind of vantage point leaves a
favorable effect on the societies’ perception towards physically disabled
people.”
Ian Biggs appreciated DAT’s efforts in the areas
of treatment of disabled people and continued: “Since five years ago, Australia
has also initiated its National Insurance of Disabled People and this
initiative has paved the way for the employment and education of disabled
individuals.”
“DAT’s activities have resulted in the creation
of self-confidence among the community of Iranian disabled people,” Mr. Biggs
added.
Australian ambassador also paid a visit to
different departments of DAT, including the Audio Library Department (peculiar
to blind people), Art Institute of Tavana, and Peyk-e Tavana Monthly Journal.
Ian Biggs also visited the DAT’s Factory
Complex, Sewing Workshop, Glass Workshop, Baby Crawling Mat Workshop, and
Alborz Electronic Industries located in Lia Industrial City.
