TEHRAN-DAT and UNIC commemorated International Day of Persons with Disabilities in the UN Office on 6 December 2015 and discussed the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Director General of Job Creation Department of Tehran Municipality Mr. Seyyed Mohammad Reza Hojjatpour, Director General of Welfare Affairs of Ministry of Cooperatives, Labor and Social Welfare Dr. Mahid Parvinro, Deputy Minister of Cooperatives, Labor and Social Welfare for Empowerment Dr. Mansour Allahverdi, member of Tehran City Council Dr. Ali Saberi as well as a number of mangers of disabled organizations and NGOs including the founder and Chairman of Board of Directors of Disability Association of Tavana Mr. Seyyed Mohammad Musavi and Managing Director of Tavana Mohammad Reza Hadipour attended the meeting which focused on the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Member of Tehran City Council Dr. Ali Saberi spoke about the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. UNIC National Information Officer Mr. Mohammad Moghadam read the United Nations Secretary-General’s message for the participants. Mr. Musavi told the audience that in the contemporary world which is the world of thoughts and the biggest tasks are done by thoughts, disabled persons are no longer disabled and they can advance the societies’ affairs with their minds. Also during the ceremony Ms. Zeinab Norouzi, one of the active members of Disability Association of Tavana read an essay about the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and challenges that disabled persons face.
