According to International Affairs Department _ The ceremony was
held at residence of Australian Ambassador on March 8 to celebrate the International
Women's Day.
The ceremony was held by efforts of Australian Ambassador's wife,
Mrs. Doctor Christian Biggs. This ceremony was held by presence of about 60
women who are active in NGOs, some staffs of some embassies in Iran, staffs of
Australian Embassy in Iran, wives of some ambassadors in Iran, several personnel
from different departments of the UN and successful women entrepreneurs.
Christian Biggs while welcomed the invitees, delivered a speech on
the women movement in the world, their recent progress as well as their impact
in different areas.
Some part of her speech is as follows:
“According to the World Economic Forum’s latest Global Gender Gap
Report – which measures the relative gaps between women and men across four key
areas (health, education, economy and politics), it will take decades in some
countries, or over a century in others, for the gender gap to close. For
all our countries, there is room for significant improvement, which is why we
need to work together to accelerate this process. Each and every one of
us can make a difference to promote and advance the cause of gender parity
globally.
As UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, has said: “let’s
support women and girls who are breaking down barriers to create a better world
for everyone."
We were pleased to celebrate International Women’s Day with the
Australian Embassy in Iran on 7 March 2019”
Ms. Kim Pang, the second secretary for the economic projects of the
embassy welcomed the invitees, introduced the participated organizations and at
the end she asked the invitees to enjoy from an Iranian traditional music and then,
one of the successful women entrepreneurs read a text on the occasion of the International
Women's Day and impact of women as elements of progress
and growth of the next generation.
It is worth mentioning that representative of Disability
Association of Tavana distributed the catalogues of the association amongst the
invitees.
